It just doesn’t get any more Australian than Star Wars Downunder, a 30 minute Star Wars fan film which tells the timeless story of mans ends battle for the love of beer and Star Wars.

Directed by Michael Cox and written by Bryan Meakin and Michael Cox, Star Wars Downunder tells the story of a lone Jedi Merve Bushwacker (David Nicoll), returning to his home planet for a well earned beer only to find that the pub has been destroyed and that the planet has become dry as a dead dingo′s donger (Australian for “no beer”). Who is to blame for this crime? Darth Drongo.

Drongo has hoarded all the beer in his impenetrable seaside fortress “Dunny’s Deep” for reasons unknown. Can Merve, and a motley collection of unlikely rebel allies band together to topple Drongo’s evil regime? Will liberty and amber fluid flow freely once more? Watch the film above and find out.

Star Wars Downunder is half an hour of action, special effects and lovable Aussie larakins. Those not familiar with Australian slang will struggle to understand the jokes and the visual cultural references such as the Sormtroopers wearing Ned Kelly helmets.

However the film has been made so well that there is still a ligh hearted enjoyable story to be had. This Star Wars fan film isn’t for everyone but it an enjoyable romp and one that has been made with dedication and heart.
